In particular, two short stories were awarded the Swan, which is awarded for stories that stand out. The winner in the 6-9 year old category was Ósk Hjaltadóttir, 8, who was awarded for her short story Geimverustyttan, while in the 10-12 year old category, Tinni Snae Aðalsteinsson’s short story Hin jörðin, 11, was awarded.

Children who participate in the short story competition will have the opportunity to find out if they have a writer. Children who submit a substantive story will have the opportunity to attend a course with an animator, writer and screenwriter who will give them advice, and they will also have the opportunity to work under the supervision of an editor who will help them to finish their stories before publication. This year, the editor was Gunnar Theodór Eggertsson, who wrote the book's preface.
