Educational Materials Developement Fund

Evaluation and Allocation

Eligibility requirements

Educational materials must be intended for use in preschools, compulsory schools or upper secondary schools. Educational materials for higher education or adult education are not eligible for funding.

In accordance with the Fund's Regulation, applications are assessed primarily on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The value and relevance of the project in relation to the objectives of the Educational Materials Development Fund.

  • The likelihood that the project will achieve its stated objectives.

  • The applicant's and other participants' professional experience and academic or professional qualifications, taking into account the requirements of the project.

Applicants are encouraged to consult the Educational Materials Development Fund Assessment Criteria (in Icelandic) before submitting an application.

Assessment and award process

Each eligible application is independently assessed by one external expert and one member of the Fund's Board.

Based on these assessments, the Board prepares its funding recommendations. The final funding decisions are made by the Minister of Education and Children on the basis of the Board's recommendations.

All applicants are notified of the outcome of their application, regardless of whether funding is awarded.

Applicants who are offered a grant must have the authorised representative of the grant recipient electronically sign the grant terms and conditions before the grant can be awarded.

All applications are treated as confidential. The conflict of interest provisions set out in Article 3 of the Icelandic Administrative Procedures Act apply to members of the Board and external assessors.
