Certification of electrical contractors
Only those who have been certified by HMS as electrical contractors may be responsible for any type of electrical work (new wiring, changes and repairs). Electrical contractors can also be responsible for individual electrical tasks in construction. Certified electrical contractors must operate according to a defined safety control system to ensure that the requirements of laws and regulations regarding the quality of work and the safety of equipment are met.
The certification of an electrical contractor is linked to the company he works for and his position must be defined within the company. As a rule, only one certified electrical contractor shall be responsible for each electrical contracting company. It is only permitted to have more than one certified electrical contractor if their areas of work and range of responsibilities are clearly differentiated.
It is possible to apply for the following certifications:
Certification-A
for electrical work at high-voltage installations on the open market, both for electrical contractors working independently or through a company. Companies working on high-voltage installations must have an employee with certification-A who is responsible for working on high-voltage installations in the name of the company.
Certification-B
for electrical work at low-voltage installations and for the repair of low-voltage electrical devices in the open market, both for electrical contractors working independently or through a company. Companies working on low-voltage installations or handling repairs of low voltage electrical devices, must have an employee with certification-B who is responsible for working on low-voltage installations in the name of the company.
Certification-C,
limited certification for electrical work, either on high-voltage installations (CA) or low-voltage installations (CB), within certain companies or institutions that do not provide general electrical contracting or repairs to the open market. The company provides the electrical contractor with the necessary equipment and facilities
