Construction manager’s license
Construction managers administer and are responsible for construction work. There are three operating licenses with different authorizations, limited by the type of construction and the scope of the project.
Construction manager I
A license to administer new construction, maintenance, alterations, reconstruction and demolition of structures up to 2.000 square metres and not exceeding 16 metres in hight. The license is not valid for constructions related to public interests, f.ex. hospitals, buildings for law enforcement, transportation centres, school buildings or constructions subject to construction manager’s license II.
Those who can apply for this license are:
Certified master craftsmen (master builders, master masons, master plumbers, master electricians and master tinsmiths) and building technicians with at least 2 years practical experience.
Certified architects, construction engineers, technologists, and engineers with at least 5 years’ practical experience in construction, building design, building inspection or construction project management (may apply for license III simultaneously)
Existing construction managers before 1 January 2011 (according to interim provision of the Construction act no. 160/2010).
Construction manager II
A license to administer new construction, maintenance, alterations, reconstruction and demolition of hydroelectric power plants, geothermal power plants and other power plants and dams that are covered by annex 1 to the Act on the Environmental Assessment of Projects and Programs.
Those who can apply for this license must meet the following conditions:
Technologists and engineers certified as designers from HMS or the ministry of higher education, science and innovation.
At least 10 years’ practical experience in project management in civil engineering, building inspection or design, including 3 years' practical experience in civil engineering management or supervision.
Be a licensed construction manager I and III.
Construction manager III
A license to administer new construction, maintenance, alteration, reconstruction and demolition of all structures other than those covered by a license I and III.
Those who can apply for this license are:
Master craftsmen (master builders, master masons, master plumbers, master electricians and master tinsmiths) and building technicians with at least 3 years’ practical experience as construction manager I.
Architects, construction engineers, technologists, with at least 5 years’ practical experience in construction, building design, building inspection or project management in construction work (may apply for license I simultaneously).
Practicing construction managers before January 1, 2011 (according to interim provision of the Construction act no. 160/2010)
