If there is difference between the Icelandic version and the English, the Icelandic version is valid.
Written exam
Candidates for certification must have complete a written exam. However, candidates are not required to have completed a theoretical course in advance. The written exams are drawn up by the Icelandic Transport Authority on a basis of a curriculum issued by the authority and the test results are reviewed by an external examiner also appointed by the Icelandic Transport Authority.The Technichal College has offered written exams and courses to prepare for the written exams.
Practical exam
Candidates for certification must also have completed a practical examination organised by the Icelandic Transportation Authority. Candidates can download the examiner's checklist for practical tests on a recreational craft, motor vessels and sailing vessels.
