Ship handling training
If there is difference between the Icelandic version and the English, the Icelandic version is valid.
In order to be issued a certificates of competency as master and deck officer under Act No. 82/2022 on Ships Crews, an applicant must have met the requirements of regulations regarding age, education, seagoing service and health. Masters' and deck officers' training is provided at the following educational institutions, operating under Act No. 92/2008 on Secondary School:
Technical College/The School of Navigation - Deck officer´s education A-E (Core School)
Ísafjörður Junior College- Deck officer´s education A (certificate up to 24 meters) - Deck officer´s education B (certificate up to 45 meters)
