Report a traffic incident and hit and run

Traffic incident

You can notify the police about:

  • a collision

  • a collision that involved a violation of traffic laws

The information you need to provide depends on what you're reporting.

Reporting a collision

You don't need to report a collision to the police if:

  • no one was injured,

  • you got information about the other driver or vehicle owner,

  • no traffic violation occurred.

In all other cases, a collision must be reported to the police.

Provide as much information as you can when you submit the report. If you have recordings or information about other witnesses, it can help clarify:

  • how the collision happened

  • whether a traffic violation occurred
