Pressing charges
To file a complaint with the police for a crime, you must file a complaint when you:
know who committed the crime, or
have a suspect.
Police Complaint Reception
To file a complaint, you must go to a police station in your district and give a statement. Giving a statement and filing a complaint with the police is called a complaint reception.
You can:
call the police in your area
send an email
Children Under 18
Children under 18 can contact the police or have someone they trust speak on their behalf. However, a parent or legal guardian must file a formal complaint for them.
If a legal guardian is unavailable, other public authorities, such as Child Protective Services, can file a complaint.
