Reimbursement for medical care, medication and therapy
Amounts and income thresholds
Amount
The reimbursement amount is based on the applicant's out-of-pocket expenses and their income. An individual or family pays an amount corresponding to 0.7% of their income and is reimbursed for a percentage of expenses exceeding that amount.
Reference income for an individual in the last calendar year | Cost - three months | Reimbursement of expenses exceeding the cost |
|---|---|---|
ISK 2,100,000 and lower | 0.7% of income | 90% |
3.150.000-4.500.000 kr. | 0.7% of income | 75% |
4.500.000-6.400.000 kr. | 0.7% of income | 60% |
Reference income for a family in the last calendar year | Cost - three months | Reimbursement of expenses exceeding the cost |
|---|---|---|
ISK 3,150,000 and lower | 0.7% of income | 90% |
ISK 3,150,000-4,500,000 | 0.7% of income | 75% |
ISK 4,500,000-6,400,000 | 0.7% of income | 60% |
The reimbursement percentage decreases as income increases. When the reference income exceeds ISK 4,000,000 for an individual and ISK 6,400,000 for a family, the benefit entitlement is cancelled.
*For each child under the age of 18, ISK 465,000 is deducted from annual income.
