Grants

Landspítali Research Grants

The Landspítali Research Fund offers two types of grants for ambitious projects by Landspítali employees:

  • Incentive Grants

  • General Research Grants

Incentive Grants

These grants are for projects with high scientific value and international novelty. Results are expected to be published in reputable foreign scientific journals.

  • The principal applicant must have published at least 5 scientific articles in good foreign journals as either the first or last author.

General Research Grants

These grants are for projects likely to result in publication in good foreign scientific journals.

  • The principal applicant must have published at least 2 scientific articles in good international journals as either the first or last author.

Main Grant Conditions

  • The application must comply with the Research Fund's rules.

  • All necessary approvals from ethics committees must be in place.

  • The principal applicant must be a permanent employee of Landspítali, working at least 30%.

  • For ongoing projects, a satisfactory progress report must be included.

  • Updated CVs and publication lists of applicants must be submitted.

  • All requested information must accompany the application.

Research permits from ethics committees are a prerequisite for clinical projects. Projects without a permit will be rejected.

Applications that do not meet the conditions will be rejected.

Useful Information

  • Only one grant can be awarded per research project.

  • Each principal applicant can submit a maximum of two applications, for two different projects.

  • For Master's or Doctoral projects, the supervisor is typically the principal applicant.

  • The fund does not support quality improvement projects or completed research phases.

  • If a project has already received three grants from the fund without a publication, a special form for an additional grant must be completed.
