Abortion is permitted in Iceland until the end of the 22nd week
According to law on abortion: "A woman has the right to terminate her pregnancy until the end of the 22nd week. Abortion should be performed as soon as possible, preferably before the end of the 12th week."

Process
Confirm your pregnancy with a pregnancy test.
Call the Women’s Clinic answering service at 543 3600 and leave a message with your name, ID number, and phone number.
You will receive a questionnaire in the Landspítali app and educational materials via Heilsuvera.
Once you have completed the questionnaire and reviewed the materials, you can book an appointment at the Women’s Clinic on weekdays from 8:00–16:00 by calling 543 3224 or 543 3266.
Termination of pregnancy is performed with medication.

Anyone considering termination of pregnancy has access to a free consultation with a social worker for guidance and emotional support in decision-making and post-treatment follow-up.
