The Healthcare Institution of East Iceland operates two laboratories. One at the District Hospital in Neskaupstaðir and one at the healthcare centre in Egilsstaðir.

In the laboratories, all major research in haematology and pathochemistry, hormone and drug measurements and all the most common cultures are carried out.
Research services are available every weekday.
