About the Healthcare Institution of East Iceland
The Healthcare Institution of East Iceland provides health services in the east of Iceland, in a total area of 16,200 square kilometres from Bakkafjörður to Álftafjörður, from the highlands to the coast. The population in East Iceland is around 11 thousand people.
The main role is to provide the residents of East Iceland and others residing there, with accessible, continuous and comprehensive health services in the fields of general medicine, nursing and health protection, as well as general hospital services.
There is a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary work within the organization, under the motto: Cooperation for well-being. All work aims to cooperate for welfare.
