Quality Standards and Certifications

Equal pay certificate
Equality is important to us, and the East Iceland Health Institute (HSA) was the first of all healthcare institutions to receive equal pay certification in 2019 based on the equal pay standard ÍST 85. HSA places great emphasis on paying the same salary for the same or equivalent work regardless of gender, race or other unjustified criteria. In March 2025, HSA underwent its seventh equal pay certification audit and received a renewed certificate that is valid until 2028, but maintenance audits will continue to be conducted annually.

The Equal scale FKA
The Eastern Health Institute has received the Equality Scale award for the fourth time, which is given to companies, municipalities and public institutions that have achieved the project's goal of equal gender ratios in the executive board or top management.
The HSA executive board now consists of three women and two men, which reflects the organization's balanced and focused policy on equality issues.
HSA is proud to be part of this powerful group that works towards real equality in the Icelandic labor market and wholeheartedly supports the project's motto: "Equality is a decision."
