With Icelandic Health Insurance
People with health insurance are those who have a legal domicile and been a resident in Iceland for the last six months.
The Ministry of Health determines the amounts payable for primary health care services. Payment may also be required for other services such as a referral to a specialist or other examinations.
Children under 18, elderly, disabled and those who come to antenatal care do not pay

Courses for parents and prenatal care are free for everyone who are registered at Heilsugæsla höfuðborgarsvæðisins' health centers.
A fee is charged for health-promoting courses related to lifestyle, diseases, and life stages, based on the number of sessions:
1 session - 5.377 ISK
2 to 3 sessions - 10.754 ISK
4 to 6 sessions - 17.206 ISK
7 to 10 sessions - 23.658 ISK
Payments for certificates do not go towards maximum payment per month.

Certificates of absence from schools - 2.489 ISK
Certificate of absence for employers - 2.489 ISK
Health certificates for students going to school, kindergarten and summer camp - 2.489 ISK
A detailed health certificate for a person on request from a third party (school, employer, certificate of seafarer) - 17.547 ISK and then - 5.849 ISK for each 20 minutes started.
Certificates to lawyers and insurance companies for: - illness or accident - life and sickness insurance. Minimum payment for the doctor's hourly work -17.547 ISK, then -17.547 ISK for each 20 minutes started.
Certificates for applications for disability benefits or adoption, to the police, the district commissioners for: - residence and/or work permits in Iceland - stay or work abroad 17.547 ISK, and then - 17.547 ISK for each 20 minutes started.

Iceland Health (Sjúkratryggingar Íslands) contributes to the cost and ensures that individuals do not pay more than a specified monthly maximum for health care services.
