The Minister of Food, Fisheries and Agriculture has signed an amendment to regulation for 2,000 ton increase in permitted total catch for cod during the ongoing coastal fishing season.
The Icelandic parliament, Althingi, passed a law which will enter into force on 1st of September, that stipulate that vessels will be allocated catch shares in lumpfish.

The last date for submitting a request for transfer of quota shares in the fishing year is 31st of July.
The error that occurred in the Directorate of Fisheries systems has been fixed, and we have therefore reopened for electronic transfers.
Applications are now accepted for regional quota for the fishing year 2023/2024.

Electronic transfers are temporarily down.
Tuna can be caught as bycatch in pelagic fisheries, therefore we would like to draw attention to the fact that all tuna catches must be reported to the Directorate of Fisheries as soon as possible.

New fishing year begins on 1st of September. We encourage parties to familiarize themselves with the implementation of allocations and transfers for the upcoming fishing year.
