Signing in with a Passkey in the Ísland.is App

In the Ísland.is app, you can now use a passkey to sign int to websites that rely on the Ísland.is authentication service, such as My pages and the Application system.

Passkeys provide a secure and convenient way to navigate between the services without using passwords or electronic credentials. A passkey is a digital identity stored on you device (e.g. phone or computer) and uses biometrics (face or fingerprint) or a Pin to verify the login.

How to enable a Passkey:

  1. In the Settings section of the Ísland.is app, select Create a Passkey.

  2. A setup window will open to guide you through the process.

  3. The setup method depends on your device – please follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. The next time you access a secure website through the app, you can authenticate with your passkey instead of signing in with electronic credentials.

  5. Logging out of the app will delete the passkey.

Note: This feature is currently being rolled out and might not be available for all users at this time.
