There are nine Digital Steps, and they represent the core services of Digital Iceland that are available to public entities. As an incentive award, the Digital Steps are a way of encouraging the use of the core solutions and thereby supporting the government's goal of strengthening digital public services. Awards are presented annually in connection with the Connecting the State conference. The first presentation took place in 2022.

• Not all nine steps apply to the services of every public entity.

• Public entities that have started on the journey have the status of their projects published, showing where they stand. The status is updated once a year – every autumn in the run-up to the conference.

• The Digital Steps will evolve over the coming years in step with digital developments.
