The Minister of Culture and Business shall appoint a consultation group on the matters of the Icelandic Hljóðbókasafn, see Article 17 of the Library Act no. 150/2012. The consultation group is the director of the Hljóðbókasafn for consultation and advice on policy and other matters concerning the library’s operations. The term of office is four years and the current consultation group is appointed until 1 Sep 2026.

The consultation group is thus composed of:

Rósa María Hjörvar, Chairperson, nominated by Blindrafélagið, the Association of Blind and Visually Impaired in Iceland, Heiða Ingólfsdóttir Vice-Chairperson, nominated by the Association of Icelandic Special Education Teachers, Snaevar Ívarsson, nominated by the Association of Lestrary Blind in Iceland, Andrea Dan Árnadóttir, nominated by Information, the Association of Library and Information Science, Elfa Svanhildur Hermannsdóttir, nominated by Sjónstöðin.

The alternates are: Kristinn Halldór Einarsson, nominated by Blindrafélagið, the association of blind and visually impaired people in Iceland; Sædís Ósk Harðardóttir, nominated by the Association of Icelandic Special Education Teachers; Ásta Rós Snævarsdóttir, nominated by the Association of the Blind in Iceland; Kristín Lilja Thorlacius Björnsson, nominated by Upplýsing, the association of library and information science; and Ásdís Þórðardóttir, nominated by Sjónstöðin.
