About the Icelandic Library of Audio
The purpose of the Icelandic Audio Library is to provide those who have not been able to read printed language, library services and access to printed text. This is done by:
Produce materials in accessible form
Disseminate material to those who need it
Emphasis is placed on the service:
Blind
Visually impaired
Those with impaired senses or reading
Those who are unable, due to physical disability, to hold or handle a book
Students with reading disabilities should have access to learning material on an equal basis with others
The library works to promote literacy, improve access to literature and textbooks and plays an important social and cultural role.
Laws and regulations
The museum meets the requirements of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which states that everyone has the right to information and equal access to education.
