What you can bring or order to Iceland
Customs clearance
Travelers arriving in Iceland from abroad must, on their own initiative, declare to customs and present:
dutiable goods they are carrying,
goods subject to import restrictions or prohibitions.
Travelers do not need to declare other goods unless specifically requested.
Customs channels
You must choose a customs channel based on whether you are carrying dutiable or restricted goods.
Red channel
The red channel is for travelers carrying:
dutiable goods,
goods subject to import restrictions or prohibitions.
Green channel
The green channel is for travelers carrying only:
duty-free luggage,
no goods subject to import restrictions.
If you are unsure whether your goods are duty-free or subject to restrictions, you are advised to choose the red channel.
Inspection by customs officers
Customs officers may inspect a traveler’s luggage at any time, including in the green channel. This also applies at entry points where red and green channels are not used.
Travelers must provide the necessary assistance during customs inspections, such as opening bags and packages if required, and providing requested information about their luggage.
If goods are discovered during inspection that have not been declared as required, they are considered illegally imported. Such goods may be confiscated by the state, and the individual may be subject to penalties in accordance with the law.
