This applies to all walkers, except for low walkers, i.e. the following must be returned:

  • Tall walkers with forearm support

  • Children's walkers

  • gas and electric walkers

Which assistive devices do not need to be returned?

  • Used toilet elevations and armrests.

  • Bath and shower aids without electricity.

  • Rotary sheets and dials.

  • Socks.

  • Grabbing pliers.

  • Transport pallets.

Users can keep these devices or return them to recycling centres.

Where do I return assistive devices?

  • Equipment can be returned to Vínlandsleið 6-8, 113 Reykjavík.

  • The return is automatic and uses the electronic ID of the user or the person submitting on their behalf.

  • If you are outside the capital area, you can send the device to Iceland Health with Eimskip Flytandi. You do not pay for shipping.

  • Outside the capital area, Eimskip Flytandi also takes care of bringing home larger aids such as beds that do not fit in ordinary cars.

  • It is important that your ID number is included with the device itself so that Iceland Health registers the returns correctly.

If you cannot find the information you need, you can send an inquiry to Iceland Health
