Residence right of family members of EEA/EFTA citizens
Immediate family members of EEA/EFTA citizens, who are themselves non-EEA/EFTA citizens, may reside in Iceland if their residence is based on the rights of an EEA/EFTA citizen residing in Iceland.
If immediate family members of EEA/EFTA citizens wish to reside in Iceland for longer than three months, they must apply for a residence card to the Directorate of Immigration.

How to apply
Applications must be submitted in their original form on paper together with the necessary supporting documents.
They can either be sent by regular mail to the Directorate of Immigration or delivered to the drop box in the Directorate’s reception.

Applications can also be handed in and paid for in the Directorate’s reception or at the offices of District Commissioners outside the capital area.
Processing fee
The fee for the issuance of a residence card for an EEA/EFTA family member is 8.000 ISK.
Application confirmation
An applicant for a residence card as a family member of an EEA/EFTA citizen can ask for a confirmation of the application by contacting the Directorate of Immigration.
