Purchasing healthcare services

Chapter VIII of the act contains special rules on health care and public contracts for the service shall be awarded according to it if the value of the contract exceeds the threshold amount, now ISK 97,770,000.

The main innovation is that the buyer must inform the buyer of his intention with a special pre-publication notice or special call for competition on the website of the European Union publishing house, TED.

Pre-publication is an informational process that informs interested parties about the proposed service purchase and thus gives them the opportunity to express their interest. If a process is started with pre-publication, it can end with negotiations or a contract on the basis of a tender.

A notice of offer applies if a service has been decided to be offered.

In the previous law on public procurement, health care was not a contract obligation.
