Case proceeding
When the board has received a complaint from a consumer the board will review provided information in the complaint and attached documents. The Board can request additional information or documents from the consumer.
When adequate information has been provided the seller is invited to review the case and file his response to the complaint. The consumer will be able to send comments to the board following the sellers response. If comments are issued by the consumer then the seller will also be invited to send further comments.
Case proceeding are in writing with the board (both Icelandic and English) and takes place through the Board's web portal.
The Board’s rulings are based on an assessment of the parties’ arguments and the information and documents submitted, with reference to the applicable laws and regulations in each case. If applicable, the Board may submit written questions or requests to the parties for specific documents or further information.
Parties are not required to be represented by a lawyer or to seek assistance from other professional advisers.
