The owner must keep the following in a secure manner so that an unauthorised person does not have access to:
firearms and ammunition
firearm components, such as silencers
permanently deactivated firearms
firearm replicas
Owner's responsibility
The possession of firearms is the responsibility of the owner and it is important that firearms are always safely stored.
Individuals other than the owners of the weapons should not have access to keys or know the passwords for the cabinet locks.
Premises
Firearm owners must store their firearms at their legal residence, unless authorized otherwise by the police.
Premises storing firearms must always be locked when residents are absent. During extended absences, firearms should additionally be rendered inoperable, for example by removing essential parts other than the receiver.
Storing firearms in a place other than the legal address
Police can grant an exception to the storage of firearms in a place other than a legal residence.

Gun cabinets
Gun cabinets must be approved gun safes and comply with current
It is important that the cabinets and their locking mechanism are secure.
Ammunition
Ammunition must always be stored in a locked storage facility.
If ammunition is stored in a firearms cabinet, it must be in a separate, locked compartment.
Sharing cabinets
Firearm owners at the same address with different firearms licenses may use the same gun cabinet for firearms storage.
