Older citizens
All counselling is individualized and in consultation with the individual. Counsellors from the Centre can visit homes and institutions if requested. The accessibility is assessed and suggestions for improvements are made aimed at increasing independence in the activities of daily life.
All blind and visually impaired senior citizens are offered food, instruction and the allocation of assistive devices such as computer-based devices and programs, entertainment in punctuation, spectacles, enlargement glasses, audio players and white letters.
Counseling is provided for integrated vision and hearing impairment and good cooperation is with the Icelandic Hearing and Speech Institute, the Communication Centre for the Deaf and the Hearing Impaired, social services and interest groups such as the Blind Association.
