Advice to service providers
The NIFBVID provides education and advice to those involved in the care of individuals with visual impairment, blindness, and combined vision and hearing impairment. Advisors from the NIFBVID:
Visit workplaces, schools, institutions, and homes to assess the conditions and accessibility.
Provide suggestions for improvements based on the individual needs of each person.
Education
An advisor at the NIFBVID assesses the student's situation with regard to accessibility to education and study materials.
Employers
The NIFBVID provides counseling to workplaces, residential facilities, social services, and others involved in the support of visually impaired and blind individuals.
Care givers
The NIFBVID provides counseling to relatives and staff of social services and institutions such as nursing homes and care facilities.
