Electronic surveillance
For security and property protection, electronic surveillance with cameras and recording equipment is in place in public areas and on the premises of Landspítali.
Recordings
The placement of cameras must ensure that patient rooms, treatment areas, or staff private areas are not visible.
Hidden surveillance inside buildings or on the premises of Landspítali is strictly prohibited.
Recordings are only made when movement is detected in the monitored area.
Purpose
Information collected through electronic surveillance may not be used to monitor staff attendance or work performance.
Data processing
The IT Department and the Security Manager of Landspítali:
Oversee the processing and deletion of information obtained through electronic surveillance.
Manage access to surveillance cameras in the same way as access to the hospital’s IT systems.
May grant specific employees limited and temporary access to process data obtained from surveillance.
Data retention
Information collected through surveillance must not be retained longer than is necessary for legitimate purposes and never longer than 30 days.
Data Disclosure
The Security Manager decides on the disclosure of surveillance data, which may only occur following a written request from the police. Surveillance material is not processed or disclosed to others except by court order.
Landspítali keeps a record of all disclosed material from the surveillance system.
