Services
Rjóður – Nursing and Rehabilitation Unit for Chronically Ill and Disabled Children
Rjóður provides care for children aged 0-18 years who require intensive nursing and specialized care. The unit also offers rehabilitation services, either through inpatient care or day programs.
Children admitted to Rjóður receive structured, family-centered adaptation, and scheduled respite admissions are planned up to three months in advance.
Rjóður is part of the Women’s and Children’s Services at Landspítali and is staffed by nurses, developmental therapists, healthcare assistants, and social caregivers.
Contacts
Each child is assigned a contact person from the Rjóður staff. The role of the contact person is to maintain good communication between Rjóður and the family, monitor progress, update information, and serve as the point of contact for the family whenever needed.
Admission Requests
A child's physician must submit an admission request, which is evaluated by a multidisciplinary team.
