Labor and Birth
Labor is an intimate process, and midwives and doctors recommend that only one support person be present during delivery. Individual needs for additional support are considered.
Women requiring an extra support person should discuss this in advance when calling the unit before arrival or upon admission.
Women stay in the Labor and Delivery Unit during labor and for about two hours after birth. Visits during this time are not recommended.
After birth, women are either discharged home or transferred to the Maternity and Postnatal Ward.
