The University of Iceland Genetics Committee is a research and service organization operated by the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Iceland and Landspítali University Hospital.

The role of the Genetics Committee is:

• to promote genetic research undertaken at the University of Iceland, Landspítali and elsewhere,

• to maintain and operate the Committee on Genetics database;

• to carry out services in the field of pedigree and genetics, including genetic counselling; and

• to promote strong links within and outside the university with the economy and society
