  • Children often have difficulty connecting the ultrasound image to the baby and can therefore be loud and restless.

  • This can disrupt the concentration of the ultrasound technician and the parents, who may not enjoy the experience as intended.

  • If something abnormal is found during the examination of the fetus, the presence of a child is not appropriate.

  • Video Recording is Not Allowed

  • Please turn off mobile phones.

About Ultrasound During Pregnancy

Conduct of the Examination

The examination is performed by a doctor or midwife who specializes in ultrasound.

  • Cold gel is applied to the woman's abdomen, and the ultrasound transducer is moved over the uterus.

  • An image appears on the ultrasound machine's screen and on an additional screen for the woman. Image quality varies and depends on the position of the fetus and the weight/body thickness of the mother. If the image quality is poor, the ultrasound technician may need to apply pressure with the transducer on the woman's abdomen to obtain a clear image.

Ultrasound examinations and prenatal screening are optional for expectant parents.

A normal result from the ultrasound does not guarantee that everything will be fine, as the ultrasound technology cannot detect all abnormalities from the normal.

Most children are born healthy, but this is not guaranteed.

In rare cases, minor or major fetal abnormalities are detected, which can cause concern for parents or difficult decision-making regarding the continuation of the pregnancy.

Parents who cannot imagine facing such situations should not undergo these examinations.

Risk

All studies indicate that ultrasound is safe for both mother and child. Nevertheless, we believe that careful consideration should be given to the indications for the examination.
