HPV (human papilloma virus):
Gardasil is given to adolescents from the age of nine to protect against the following diseases caused by certain types of HPV (human papillomavirus):
Precancerous lesions in the cervix, vulva, vagina, and anus.
Cervical and anal cancers.
Genital warts.

Cervarix is given to adolescents from the age of nine to protect against the following diseases caused by certain types of HPV (human papillomavirus):
Cancer of the cervix or anus.
Precancerous lesions (abnormal cell growth) in the genital area (cervix, vulva, vagina, or anus).
