The ward is a 19-bed inpatient unit where diagnosis, treatment, and nursing care are provided for patients with acute internal medicine conditions that require hospital admission and fall under general internal medicine. Most patients are admitted from the emergency department, but also from the intensive care unit and outpatient clinics of the hospital.

Admissions can take place around the clock, and discharges occur every day. Care is provided 24/7 according to each patient’s needs, with mornings being the busiest time, when personal care is given, ward rounds are conducted, and discharges are prepared.

Emphasis is placed on good communication with patients and their relatives, and on providing clear and accessible information about medical conditions, investigations, treatment, nursing care, and prognosis.

The use of mobile phones is permitted on the ward; however, please keep your phone on silent mode and be considerate of other patients when speaking on the phone. We also ask all patients to respect the privacy of others and not to discuss any information they may become aware of regarding other patients’ health or personal circumstances.
