Center for Late Consequences of Cancer at Children's Hospital
Table of contents
Services
The center is for individuals aged 18 and older who were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 18 and have completed their treatment and standard post-treatment follow-up.
Long-Term Follow-up After Childhood Cancer Treatment
Cancer treatments can cause health issues later in life, such as effects on growth, fertility, and an increased risk of new cancers. The purpose of this follow-up is to promote health and improve quality of life through regular check-ups, education, and support.
Passport After Cancer Treatment
Clients receive a passport that includes:
A summary of the cancer diagnosis and the treatment received.
Recommendations for long-term follow-up.
This passport is designed to empower individuals to take an active role in monitoring their own health. It also serves as a guide for healthcare professionals, such as those at a local health clinic.
Services for Adolescents and Adults
While the center primarily serves young adults, older individuals who had cancer in childhood can also come for a visit to receive their passport. After being discharged from the center, clients are always welcome to contact us again if they have questions about their health or long-term side effects.
