Cardiology Ward 14EG

Cardiology Ward 14EG is the only ward in Iceland that specializes exclusively in treating patients with heart-related conditions. The ward primarily serves patients referred from the Cardiac Emergency Unit and the Emergency Department in Fossvogur. Patients may also be admitted from waiting lists or transferred from other hospitals around the country for specialized cardiac care.

The ward works closely with the Cardiac Emergency Unit, the cardiac catheterization lab, and the cardiology diagnostics team to ensure comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients with heart disease.

After discharge and home care

• Many patients receive follow-up and ongoing treatment at outpatient clinics after discharge from the cardiology ward, helping ensure the best possible care.

• Home nursing services support a large number of discharged patients, especially those with chronic heart failure.
