Campsite openings in National Forests

National Forest campsites are gradually opening across the country. This weekend will see openings in Selskógur Skorradalur, Reykjarhóll in Varmahlíð Skagafjörður, Ásbyrgi, Hallormsstaðaskógur, and Þjórsárdalur. The Vaglaskógur campsites are anticipated to open on May 23rd.
Favorable spring weather and excellent campsite conditions currently present ideal circumstances for camping, particularly within Iceland's National Forests, which provide ample shelter and diverse opportunities for outdoor recreation and nature appreciation. Land and Forest Iceland manages campsites in Vaglaskógur and Hallormsstaðaskógur; however, other entities operate campsites within or adjacent to a number of other National Forests.
