Advertising of medicinal products
The Icelandic Medicines Agency (IMA) has published a guide on the advertising of medicinal products. Administrative decisions relating to the advertising of medicinal products can be found here.
The main rule of the Medicinal Products Act on the advertising of medicinal products is set out in Article 54 of the Medicinal Products Act, No. 100/2020, and provides that the advertising of medicinal products is permitted in Iceland subject to the restrictions referred to in Chapter XIII of the Act. In addition, the Regulation on the Advertising of Medicinal Products, No. 790/2021, is in force.
Administrative decisions
To increase transparency in its activities, IMA began publishing administrative decisions relating to the advertising of medicinal products on its website as of 1 January 2020, e.g. prohibitions of advertising of medicinal products or reprimands issued by IMA.
Please note that publication will only cover decisions taken from the first date of publication onwards.
