Last Sunday, August 20th, the Directorate of Fisheries received a notification that holes had been found in the Arctic Seafarm's fish farm at Kvígindisdalur in Patreksfjörður.
The Directorate of Fisheries has allocated catch quota for the fishing year 2023/2024.

New fishing year begins on September 1st. We encourage parties to familiarize themselves with the implementation of allocations and transfers for the upcoming fishing year.
Attention is drawn to the fact that all special fishing permits must be applied for separately for each fishing year. Current permits expire on August 31 st.

Saturday the 12th of August will be the last day for Lumpfish fishing apart from inner Breiðafjörður where it is allowed until the 31st of August.

Drones will be used for monitoring by the Directorate of Fisheries in August we would like to ask fishermen to keep in mind that all recordings are carefully examined and fish that goes overboard is species analyzed.
