The employment rate is 100% and the location of the job can be at the following establishments: Akureyri, Hafnarfjordur, Stykkisholmur or Isafjordur.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Collection and sharing of information regarding salmon and trout fishing.

• Participation in development of solutions for information gathering and sharing for salmon and trout fishing.

• Procurement, distribution and management of fish tags.

• Registration of information regarding the escapes from fishfarms.

• Writing reviews for planning matters and assessment of environmental impact of projects.

• Licensing for projects around or in fishing lakes.

• Participation in international cooperation.

• Other projects in the field of salmon and trout fishing.

• An expert in the field of salmon and trout fishing is also a deputy for the director of Salmonid Fisheries Management

Qualification requirements

• University education that is useful in work.

• Very good general computer skills.

• Very good skills in Icelandic and English in both speech and writing.

• Good organizational and analytical skills.

• Positive attitude, good interpersonal relations skills, ability to work independently and with others.

• Initiative, solution-oriented approach and ambition to succeed at work.

• Resilience and ability to work under pressure.

• Knowledge and experience in public administration is an advantage.

• Knowledge of salmonid biology is an advantage.

• Knowledge and/or experience of salmon fishing in rivers and lakes in Iceland is an advantage.

• Clean criminal record.
