The National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland (ÍSÍ) and the Directorate of Equality have maintained a strong collaboration in recent years and have issued a gender equality plan that all sports clubs can use in their operations. Guidelines for sports clubs on the preparation of gender equality plans have also been published.

The gender equality plan is intended for all sports clubs, with particular emphasis on ensuring that all ÍSÍ Model Clubs adopt the plan and implement it in their work. The plan addresses various aspects of equality, and by using the guidelines, sports clubs can better assess their current situation and correct any inequalities that may exist.

The Directorate of Equality and ÍSÍ encourage all units within the sports movement to work systematically towards equality in sports and to use the gender equality plan and guidelines to make improvements wherever needed.
