About the Directorate of Equality
The role of the Directorate of Equality is to monitor the implementation of equality legislation, provide education, information, and counselling, and submit recommendations to the authorities on measures that promote greater equality. The Directorate encourages active participation in equality matters, monitors developments in the field, and initiates research and assessments.
It works on prevention of gender‑based violence and harassment, combats pay inequality and other discrimination in the labour market, and seeks reconciliation in disputes related to the legislation. The Directorate also works against harmful gender stereotypes and oversees the administration and supervision of equal pay certification. Finally, it carries out other tasks assigned by the Minister.
The Directorate of Equality operates under the Act on Equal Status and Equal Rights of Women and Men, the Act on Equal Treatment in the Labour Market, and the Act on Equal Treatment Outside the Labour Market. It falls under the authority of the Minister of Justice.
