Treatment homes
The National Agency for Children and Families is responsible for the operation of treatment homes for young people who struggle with serious behavioral and addiction problems.
Stuðlar treatment center
In the treatment unit there is place for six young people at a time. In general, it is assumed that the treatment will last for about eight to twelve weeks, although each case is assessed independently.
Support homes
Support homes are available to those young people who have been treated at Stuðlar, and possibly in other resources, but need further support afterwards.
Bjargey treatment center
Bjargey provides ongoing treatment for young people who have completed treatment at Stuðlar but need further assistance. The treatment home has room for 6 young people at a time and provision is made for accommodation for 6 months.
Emergency care
The emergency care program at the Stuðlar center is an intervention for young people who put themselves or others at risk. The maximum stay is fourteen days. The goal is to keep the stay as short as possible.
