Co-operation after divorce
After-Divorce Co-operation – For The Children is a digital platform with educational and useful tools for parents to deal with changes and challenges in connection with divorce or separation.
The SES is based on a comprehensive vision of family relations, with the purpose of strengthening parental cooperation following divorce or separation with the well-being and interests of children as the guiding principle.
It is an innovative approach to parenting and divorce counselling in digital form.
Digital platform and support material for parents, children and teens
In addition to parental and child material, the website provides specialized educational material and tools for professionals to use in their daily work with the families and children in question.
The digital platform has been available in Iceland since 2020, first as a pilot project in several municipalities and then from 2021 in all municipalities in the country. The website is modelled on Danish models, implemented in Iceland in cooperation with the Minister of Education and Children, who signed an agreement with Samfélag efter fjölskyldu ApS in Denmark.
The SES is evidence-based, supported by research and clinical application, as well as the experience of both parents and professionals. A number of Danish studies have shown significant benefits for parents from using the SES. An Icelandic study has also shown that parents in Iceland value the SES as easy to use, that the educational material provides them with new and useful knowledge that is credible and professional and increases parents’ understanding of the impact of divorce on themselves and their children.
According to Icelandic law, the municipalities are required to provide divorce counselling, as well as the website is in good agreement with the changes in the legislation that have been made in connection with the new law on integration of services for the well-being of children.
