The AOSH receives Jafnvægisvogin recognition for the fifth time

19th October 2026

The Administration of Occupational Safety and Health (AOSH) has received the Jafnvægisvogin 2026 recognition for the fifth consecutive year.

The recognition is awarded to companies, municipalities and institutions that have achieved the target of at least 40% representation of each gender at the highest level of management.

This year, 163 organisations received the recognition, representing a 27.3% increase on the previous year.

“It is extremely encouraging to see more and more workplaces joining this group. Diverse leadership creates space for different perspectives and enables employees to contribute their talents. This is one of the foundations of a healthy workplace culture and helps workplaces achieve success,” says Hanna Sigríður Gunnsteinsdóttir, Director General of the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health (AOSH).

The recognition aims to highlight companies and institutions that have made notable progress in gender equality and encourage others to follow their example. Despite the progress made, women account for only 21.3% of managing directors in Icelandic companies, demonstrating that there is still much work to be done.
