Asbestos demolition
Rights after completing the course
A course for individuals who intend to work on asbestos demolition. To obtain a permission to demolish asbestos one needs to know the harmful effects of asbestosis and the necessary pollution prevention measures.
The course grants the right to work on asbestos projects that cause little pollution.
For example:
When demolishing roof panels and exterior cladding.
For minor demolition and maintenance work inside buildings.
Those who complete the course are registered at the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health (AOSH) so that applications for asbestos work can be assessed.
The course does not grant the right to work on larger projects or on or with loosely bound asbestos where there is a risk of significant asbestos pollution.
What is asbestos?
Asbestos fibers are very durable and can withstand very high temperatures. Asbestos was previously used as a fire retardant, thermal insulation and in various industries. Working with asbestos produces needle-shaped or thread-like asbestos dust. This dust is hazardous to health and its use is banned in the European Economic Area.
