Almost everything you need connected to your vehicle has now available on Ísland.is.
Now notification of change of ownership of a vehicle and notification of vehicle co-owner
is now available on Ísland.is. The process is fully digital, has been improved, and is now much more user-friendly.
The change of ownership of a vehicle is reported on Ísland.is and must take place within 7 days of the sale. The process is as follows:
The seller fills in the notification and pays for registration.
The contracting authority/owner/keeper signs the notification digitally.
The change of ownership is automatically recorded in the vehicle register.
Before notification of a change of ownership, it is important to check the status of the vehicle in regard to loans, claims history, and other details outlined in purchases and sales of vehicles.
The My Pages of Ísland.is and Ísland.is app also contain key information on vehicles such as the vehicle's own weight, trailer weight, and how much the car can tow along with information on what kind of driving rights you have.
