Registered vehicle owners can be more than one.
The notification applies when a co-owner is registered for the first time, the order of owners is changed or the removal of existing co-owner.
The process
A change of vehicle co-owner is reported at Island.is
The owner fills in the notification and pays for registration.
The co-owner electronically signs the notification.
The registration of the co-owner is updated in the vehicle register.
Cost
A co-owner registration, change or removal costs 1.181 ISK which the owner pays upon registration. If the co-owner does not approve the registration within 7 days, the Financial Management Authority will reimburse the amount to the owners account.
