Digital Iceland's spring projects

The Digital Iceland team has recently dedicated significant effort to preparing and following up on a new framework agreement. The simplest way to describe the function of this framework agreement is that private sector entities offer their expertise in the form of two types of teams: generalist teams and web teams. This is not about bidding for a specific project, but rather about proposing teams that will participate in development projects and the digital transformation of the public sector in collaboration with Digital Iceland.

This is the third time that Digital Iceland has tendered its software development in this manner, and participation has been strong this time around. Twenty-two entities submitted proposals for generalist teams, and fourteen companies submitted proposals for web teams. The competency assessment of the teams is currently being finalized, and those that meet the criteria will be given the opportunity to work on a project and present their approach.

Projects will be assigned to qualified teams on May 5, and the presentations will take place between May 12 and 14. Following this process, ten teams from each category will be offered participation in the framework agreement.

Application for secondary school

Applications for upper secondary schools are available on Ísland.is. The first applications opened for vocational programs, followed by applications from older students and new applicants coming from compulsory schools. Each spring, upper secondary schools receive around 5,000 applications from new students, all of which now go through the Ísland.is application system.

Quantitative registration of km position

To accommodate those who own multiple vehicles, a simpler method for registering the odometer reading has been developed. Three options are available: manual entry, using an Excel/CSV file, or via a web service.

Development of digital certificates

The biggest changes ahead are that digital certificates will no longer appear in mobile wallets and will only be available in the Ísland.is app, which now supports certificates with barcodes. Additionally, information about the certificates, their validity period, and more will continue to be available on My Pages on Ísland.is.
